Founded in 1979, the Festival Berlioz is a major event in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region (40-minute drive from Grenoble). Its national and international renown makes it one of the most important events of the classical music festival season, particularly for symphonic music.  

The program for this trip to the heights of classical music includes three exceptional concerts, with Berlioz as the obvious main theme. The Orchestre de l'Opéra National de Lyon and Daniele Rustioni, brilliant artistic director, will lend the colors of a French ensemble to Romeo and Juliet, a magnificent symphonic fresco inspired by Shakespeare. The links between the United Kingdom and the composer of genius are close, and a great orchestral tradition has been born on the other side of the Channel. Paul McCreesh, the great English conductor who led the tender masterpiece L'Enfance du Christ, is part of this illustrious lineage. The highlight of the visit will undoubtedly be the London Symphony Orchestra and its new principal conductor, the great Antonio Pappano, in a program of Richard Strauss, Holst and Berlioz, with the excellent pianist Bertrand Chamayou. With these three highlights, 2024 is sure to be a vintage Berlioz!
