Théâtre des Champs-Elysées
Your tickets for the 2019-2020 season of the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées
The Théâtre des Champs-Elysées with its history and the beauty of its hall is an essential Parisian institution. This 2019-2020 season confirms once again that in terms of opera, concert classical music, ballet or recital, programming comes close to perfection. The greatest artists of classical music perform on the mythical stage of the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées. You must reserve your tickets without delay. For example, the four operas staged this season 2019-2020 are obviously in high demand because they create the event. The Nozze di Figaro, masterpiece by Mozart is staged by James Gray, the famous movie director of We own the night and Two Lovers. For his first opera staging, he has an impeccable cast with Sabine Devieilhe in Susanna (a role she dreamt of for a long time) but also Vannina Santoni and Stéphane Degout with the inspired direction of Jérémie Rhorer. David McVicar is a great director who is entrusted Roberto Devereux of Donizetti where we can applaud Maria Agresta and Francesco Demuro facing the exceptional Karine Deshayes. Laurence Equilbey conducts Der Freischütz of Weber. The great masterpiece of German Romanticism has become rare on display. It offers a new golden role for the popular tenor Stanislas de Barbeyrac. Monteverdi's Incoronazione di Poppea, entrusted to Stephen Langridge and directed by the impeccable Christophe Rousset at the head of the Talens Lyriques, brings together an impressive cast (Anne-Catherine Gillet, Marie-Nicole Lemieux, Alice Coote, Delphine Galou, Jean Teitgen, Reinoud Van Mechelen).
As for great voices, recitals are as always special moments to applaud the greatest opera artists like Roberto Alagna during a surprise concert. Do we need to present superstar Jonas Kaufmann? We must book tickets as soon as possible for this concert which promises to be exceptional, as always. The big opera arias are on the program of the orchestral recital with Elina Garanca, Aleksandra Kurzak's, or the great Baroque arias of Haendel or Cavalli with the young and already celebrated Jakub Józef Orlinski. French countertenor Philippe Jaroussky is also giving three concerts, with opera arias by Handel, Italian Baroque composers and a recital of melodies and Schubert's Lieder accompanied by Jérôme Ducros. Another French international star, Elsa Dreisig comes to the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées for a recital of Strauss, Duparc and Rachmaninov. Matthias Goerne, the greatest current Liedersänger, continues his collaboration with great pianists like Jan Lisiecki while the superb and much adored soprano Renée Fleming sings also accompanied by a remarkable pianist, Evgeny Kissin himself!
On the piano side we see the arrival of artists from varied worlds as Elena Bashkirova, Grigory Sokolov, Nelson Freire, Arcadi Volodos, Fazil Say, Rafal Blechacz and many others! As in chamber music with the annual rendezvous of Prades at the Champs-Elysées or the young and already celebrated cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason, we do not know where to look first as the concerts are exciting! The dance program is also stunning with magical choreographers like Angelin Preljocaj, Benjamin Millepied or Alexander Ekman and the prestigious ballets like Swan Lake and the Kiev Ballet. But what is undoubtedly the most exceptional is the loyalty of the big orchestras like the Wiener Philharmoniker which proposes a Beethoven cycle directed by Andris Nelsons, to reserve urgently. The close collaboration maintained for years with the great personalities of classical music is to be emphasized with names as Yuri Temirkanov, Esa-Pekka Salonen Yannick Nézet-Seguin, Philippe Herreweghe, Masaaki Suzuki, Jean-Christophe Spinosi and Jérémie Rhorer. This season 2019-2020, they are all present at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées.
