Théâtre des Champs-Elysées

Discover the season and book your tickets for the 2024-2025 Season of Paris Théâtre des Champs-Elysées !
What are the must-see shows at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées this season?

The 2024-2025 season at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées is special in more ways than one. Indeed, it is the very last one signed by Michel Franck. The vibrant artistic director, in office since 2010, offers for the occasion a firework of a program that will delight all music lovers. It goes without saying that some events will be taken by storm. To avoid disappointment, it is particularly necessary to book your tickets in advance this season, especially for operas.

The 2024-2025 TCE season sums up the artistic choices of its director. Michel Franck has always had the intelligence to offer all repertoires with perhaps a slight preference for baroque music. Whether in staged or concert versions, opera lovers are particularly spoiled this season with, for example, Semele, a superb masterpiece by Handel that will be performed by Pretty Yende, a star soprano beloved by the French public. Emmanuelle Haïm directs this new production by Oliver Mears, director and current head of the prestigious Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. The greatest French tenor of his generation, the dashing Benjamin Bernheim, has chosen the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées to present his first Parisian Werther, directed by Christof Loy. He is partnered with another star familiar to Avenue Montaigne, the impressive mezzo Marian Viotti, who also stars in another highlight of 2024-2025, Der Rosenkavalier, a highly anticipated event.

To defend the masterpiece by Richard Strauss, Franck has assembled a dream cast with Marlis Petersen as an anthology-worthy Maréchale alongside the splendid Marina Viotti as Octavian and Regula Mühlemann, who was applauded on this same stage in Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute) during the 2023-2024 season. The highlight is undoubtedly the revival of a landmark production that marked the tenure of the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées' artistic director. Dialogues des Carmélites by Poulenc, in the perfect staging by Olivier Py, is the opera to discover or rediscover. Patricia Petibon, who moved music lovers as Blanche de la Force, is now Mère Marie, a beautiful symbol of the transmission and continuity of opera history and the performers who bring the art of opera to life every night.

Great voices are celebrated with the arrival of Anna Netrebko, no less! Great recitals are expected with the faithful Philippe Jaroussky, Pretty Yende, and the superb Jakub Józef Orlinski. But it is certainly the concert versions of lyrical works that will generate the most enthusiasm among spectators. Tickets will need to be booked as soon as possible. Can we imagine a more beautiful program than that offered by Julien Chauvin (who celebrates a great anniversary this season) in La Resurrezione by Handel? The great baroque composer is wonderfully represented in 2024-2025 at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées with Jephtha, featuring Michael Spyres, Joyce DiDonato, Mélissa Petit, and Francesco Corti, and the rare oratorio Deborah conducted by Ton Koopman with Sophie Junker and Jakub Józef Orlinski.

Mozart is the other major composer of the season with a Da Ponte trilogy entrusted to Alexis Kossenko (Don Giovanni), Giovanni Antonini (Le nozze di Figaro), and the great Marc Minkowski (Così fan tutte). Another beautiful Mozart opera in concert version (Mitridate, re di Ponto with Sergey Romanov and Jessica Pratt) is conducted by Christophe Rousset, another accomplished Mozartian. Finally, note the Requiem with Lisette Oropesa, Eve-Maud Hubeaux, Cyrille Dubois, and Nahuel di Pierro. Among the highlights, we note an exceptional Freischütz, the romantic opera by Weber conducted by a prominent conductor Antonello Manacorda, with Charles Castronovo and Golda Schultz. Cyrille Dubois will be a lively Count Ory (Rossini), Elsa Dreisig a divine Alcina (Handel) surrounded by Emily D’Angelo, Sandrine Piau, and Alex Rosen. The great voices of Riccardo Massi, Anna Pirozzi, Enkhbat Amartuvshin, and Sophie Pondjiclis shine in Andrea Chénier by Giordano, while we are already looking forward to hearing Marie-Nicole Lemieux in L’Italiana in Algeri by Rossini (conducted by Julien Chauvin) and Sabine Devieilhe in Mozart as well as Boulez on the occasion of his centenary.

On the dance side, unmissable events are offered with renowned choreographers such as Akram Khan, Carolyn Carlson, Mats Ek, Sharon Eyal, and an emotional rendezvous for the end-of-year celebrations with the ballet troupe of the National Opera of Ukraine. Of course, major concerts and many events will follow one another at the TCE. Martha Argerich opens the season with Lahav Shani and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra. Eminent pianists will be on stage: Elisabeth Leonskaja, Evgeny Kissin, Grigory Sokolov, Mikhail Pletnev, Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Nikolai Lugansky, Nelson Goerner, David Fray, Adam Laloum, the fabulous Benjamin Grosvenor, and the young generation, Jonathan Fournel, Bruce Liu, Dmitry Masleev, Jan Lisiecki, Justin Taylor, the brothers Lucas Jussen and Arthur Jussen, international stars... Other major soloists are expected: Gidon Kremer, Tabea Zimmermann, Thibault Cauvin with the famous pop artist and guitarist -M-, Sol Gabetta, Gautier Capuçon, Emmanuel Pahud, Nemanja Radulovic with his Ensemble Double Sens, Edgar Moreau in Bach giving the feeling of a family. The loyalty of some great conductors such as Zubin Mehta, Daniele Gatti, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, or the Vienna Philharmonic shows how exceptional this 2024-2025 season is and definitely not to be missed!

Reservations are already open for all the shows of this event season!
