Inaugurated on 19th February 1999, the Palacio de Congresos y de la Música Euskalduna is a unique building, one of the jewels of the new Bilbao of the 21st century. Its architects are Federico Soriano and Dolores Palacios. The building is located in the centre of the city and its architecture symbolises the last ship built in the old Euskalduna shipyard.

Today it houses the opera season of the ABAO, one of the most important and prestigious institutions in Spain, and is also home to the Bilbao Orkestra Sinfonikoa, an orchestra founded in 1920 and which gave its first concert in 1922.
