The art of the great violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter has allowed her to reach the peak of an exemplary career.
Everyone knows the story of this little girl prodigy whose talent was discovered by Herbert von Karajan. Thanks to this demiurge, she went on stage at the age of 13 and performed for the first time with the sublime Berliner Philharmoniker the following year. Since then, she has had a string of successes with insolent ease. The great concertos do not seem to frighten the artist who performs under the direction of the greatest conductors, all over the world. The concertos of Brahms, Mendelssohn or Sibelius remain a reference on record as well as on stage.
However, a personal tragedy almost pushed her away, but she returned, more virtuoso than ever. She performed in the delicate exercise of chamber music with her faithful partner Lambert Orkis. For several seasons, with her ensemble the Mutter Virtuosi, she has been traveling the world, composing the program herself, always including contemporary works. Anne-Sophie Mutter is one of the greatest violinists today, the most exciting.

Biography
Anne-Sophie Mutter is a German violinist, born on June 29, 1963 in Rheinfelden, Baden-Württemberg. A child prodigy of the violin, discovered by Herbert von Karajan, the success achieved by the beautiful violinist has never dried up. A sensitive artist and an incomparable interpreter of Brahms, her repertoire also extends to contemporary works.
Anne-Sophie Mutter is one of the greatest virtuoso violinists and has dominated the international scene for four decades – the year 2016 marks the 40th anniversary of her debut at the Lucerne Festival on August 23, 1976, at the age of thirteen. She has now produced twenty-four world premieres – Sebastian Currier, Henri Dutilleux, Sofia Goubaidulina, Witold Lutoslawski, Norbert Moret, Krzysztof Penderecki, Sir André Previn and Wolfgang Rihm have all composed for her. The violinist is also involved in numerous charity projects and actively supports the musical elite of tomorrow.
In 2016, Anne-Sophie Mutter was invited to the Salzburg Easter Festival and the Lucerne Festival with the London Symphony, the Pittsburgh Symphony, the New York Philharmonic, the London Philharmonic, the Wiener Philharmoniker, the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden and the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. Alongside Yefim Bronfman and Lynn Harrell, the violinist performed for the first time in Europe in this trio configuration. A recital tour with Lambert Orkis takes her to Europe, China, Korea, Taiwan and Japan, where she celebrates the 35th anniversary of her debut with orchestral concerts and duo recitals. Her 2016 concert season concludes with a European tour with the London Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Robin Ticciati.
In March 2016, Anne-Sophie Mutter performs the Brahms Violin Concerto in London with the London Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Thomas Adès. As part of the Salzburg Easter Festival, she performs in a programme including Beethoven’s Triple Concerto with Yefim Bronfman, Lynn Harrell and the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden under the baton of Christian Thielemann. In April, Anne-Sophie Mutter embarks on her fifth tour with her solo ensemble the Mutter Virtuosi, visiting Aix-en-Provence, Barcelona and eight cities in Germany. Commissioned by the violinist for the Mutter Virtuosi and dedicated to her, Previn’s Nonet was premiered in Edinburgh on 26 August 2015 and given its first performance during this tour. On the occasion of the Kurt Masur Memorial Concert given at the Gewandhaus in Leipzig on 16 April, Anne-Sophie Mutter performed Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto with the Gewandhaus Orchestra conducted by Michael Sanderling. In Dvořák’s Violin Concerto, the violinist reunites with Manfred Honeck who conducts the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra in Prague and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in Munich.
For the 28th year of their musical partnership, a recital tour takes Anne-Sophie Mutter and Lambert Orkis to Germany, France, Luxembourg, Austria and Switzerland. We will recall their recording of Beethoven's piano and violin sonatas crowned with the Grammy Award and that of Mozart's piano and violin sonatas by the Choc du Monde de la Musique.
Her vast discography has earned the violinist an impressive number of international awards: the Grammy four times, the Prix Echo Classik nine times, the Deutscher Schallplatenpreis, the Record Academy Prize, the Grand Prix du Disque and the International Phono Award.
