Venice is undoubtedly the most beautiful city in the world in the eyes of the many travelers who have had the chance to visit it one day. Among other architectural jewels, it houses one of the most iconic opera houses on the lyrical planet. The Teatro La Fenice is a legend in itself, renowned for the quality and diversity of its shows. The 2024-2025 season is an example of this. It is always prudent to book opera tickets well in advance, as many spectators have often had the misfortune to see the "sold out" sign. An opera performance at La Fenice should be booked as early as possible, as the number of seats in this intimate theater is limited. It is already too late to attend a performance of Turandot.

The opportunities to visit Venice and attend a performance at La Fenice are numerous, and above all, all types of spectators are welcome. Newcomers will discover with great pleasure La Traviata by Verdi in the intelligent and modern production by Robert Carsen (created 20 years ago for the reopening of the theater after the 1996 fire). More seasoned music lovers will be tempted by Il trionfo dell’onore by Alessandro Scarlatti. This comedy masterpiece is presented on the occasion of the three hundredth anniversary of the composer's death, with musical direction by the great specialist Enrico Onofri.

The Italian repertoire is of course the most anticipated in a theater like La Fenice, but the 2024-2025 opera season features works that are international successes, such as Wozzeck, the harrowing masterpiece by Alban Berg, a pillar of 20th-century musical theater, performed on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of its creation. Another much rarer work to discover is Der Protagonist by Kurt Weill with the staging by Ezio Toffolutti.

One of the first highlights of the opera season at the Teatro La Fenice is Otello by Verdi conducted by Myung-Whun Chung. The Moor of Venice will shake the music stands with Francesco Meli in the role of Otello facing the gentle Desdemona performed by Francesca Dotto. Another great masterpiece by Verdi graces the stages of the opera house of the Serenissima, Rigoletto, which should be booked without delay as Luca Salsi and Dalibor Janis are excellent interpreters of the role. Music lovers cannot miss a performance of Tosca by Puccini. The new production by Joan Anton Rechi is eagerly awaited with Chiara Isotton in the title role.

Another success that must be booked to be sure of getting opera tickets, Il barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville) by Rossini is performed during the Venice Carnival, a magical but busy period! With Anna Bolena by Donizetti, it's another event at La Fenice since the last Venetian production dates back to 1857. With the rare Attila by Verdi, a masterpiece particularly deserves attention. Dialogues des Carmélites by Francis Poulenc is a heartbreaking opera presented for the very first time in Venice. For the occasion, the assembled cast is magnificent with Julie Cherrier-Hoffmann, Vanessa Goikoetxea, and the great tragedienne Anna Caterina Antonacci.

The 2024-2025 program of the Teatro La Fenice also includes ballets, and the schedule, again, is superb. Roméo et Juliette, a masterpiece by Prokofiev, is presented in the choreography by the great John Neumeier with the Hamburg Ballet. Another well-renowned company, the Ballets de Monte-Carlo dance Cendrillon (Cenerentola in Italian) by the choreographer and company director, Jean-Christophe Maillot.

Like the dance and ballets, all the concerts are noteworthy. In the 2024-2025 program of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice, there are very big names. Hervé Niquet plays the Te Deum by Charpentier, accompanied by pieces by Dauvergne and Méhul, Charles Dutoit conducts the Symphony from the New World by Dvořák while Rudolf Buchbinder conducts Beethoven concertos from the piano. Ton Koopman conducts the St. Matthew Passion by Bach and Myung-Whun Chung, the Second Symphony by Mahler. But music lovers will book as a top priority the famous New Year's concert conducted this season again by Daniel Harding.
