What are the must-see shows at the Palais des Beaux-Arts this season?
The Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels is one of the most important cultural venues in Belgium. The Art Deco architecture of the Palace is unique. The music, theatre and other rooms are all underground! The acoustics of the large Henry le Boeuf Hall and the chamber music room make the musical experience exceptional! Nikolaus Harnoncourt praised the "marvellous, clear, transparent" sound of this place, which he considered "one of the most beautiful halls in Europe in terms of acoustics.
In 1913, Queen Elisabeth and King Albert I expressed the wish to build "a temple dedicated to music and the visual arts". It was the architect Victor Horta who designed the first house of culture built in Europe, the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels, known as Bozar. He arranged the three concert halls, exhibition and conference spaces on an equal footing. Opened in 1928, the Palais is the home of the Belgian National Orchestra and presents a year-round season of more than 200 concerts of classical music with musicians from all over the world.
