The Salle Cortot, a 400-seat concert hall, is a typical Art Deco project. It stands out for its modernity and its exceptional acoustics. With a narrow rectangular shape, the Cortot hall takes up the principle of the Greek amphitheater with its stage on the long side and its tiers in a semicircle. Its structure, made of rough reinforced concrete covered with gilded bronze and its walls plated with okoume wood, gives this place a modern but austere and refined look, an atmosphere reminiscent of an instrument in which one penetrates. The sobriety of the exterior thus gives way to an unmatched musical setting.
