Located in the heart of Switzerland, on the shores of Lake Lucerne, the city of Lucerne, with its famous wooden Kapellbrücke bridge and its maze of charming narrow streets and small squares, charms visitors with its authentic and pure atmosphere.
The Lucerne Festival, founded in 1938 by legendary conductor Arturo Toscanini, is now recognised as one of the most prestigious classical music festivals.
Three superb concerts are on the programme for the 2026 edition, which offers nothing but events. Sir Simon Rattle, the ever-inspired conductor, will lead the Freiburger Barockorchester in a 100% Schumann concert, accompanied by the fantastic Isabelle Faust. Another renowned violinist, Anne-Sophie Mutter, has become legendary for having rubbed shoulders with the greatest. She reunites with Manfred Honeck, the artists' beloved conductor, for a flamboyant Penderecki/Dvorák/Adams concert. The conductor accompanies a young and talented pianist in Brahms. Alexandre Kantorow is currently one of the most sought-after and undoubtedly the best pianist of his generation. Each season, the Lucerne Festival offers concerts that are not to be missed.
