Synopsis

Giselle

Find out where Giselle is being performed around the world, and book your tickets now!

Giselle is considered to be the romantic ballet par excellence. Since its creation in 1841 in Paris, not only has it never left the stage but above all, it laid the foundations of the white ballet with tutus and pointes.

Listen to the Music & Opera playlist :

The music composed by Adolphe Adam wonderfully accompanies this poignant story of a young and noble abused peasant girl who dies of grief and then transforms into Wili. The role of Giselle is one of the most beautiful that all the greatest stars have danced or will dance one day or another.

THE STORY

In a bucolic landscape, a young girl, Giselle, dies of love and is transformed into a spirit that haunts the forest. Taken in by the Wilis, she enters an immaterial world where dance is the language of the soul. Her lover Albrecht, distraught, pursues this ghost at the risk of his life. The ballerinas, with their aerial presence, play with him as much as with gravity. Covered in mist, the scene gives way to spectral visions magnified by the haunting music of Adolphe Adam.
