Konzerthaus

Thanks to its interestingly varied offer, as well as its outstanding acoustics and plain elegance, the Konzerthaus, a unique venue forged by an uncommon past has quickly begun a real rite of passage for all the greatest composers and musicians of the 20th century.

Currently, it is regarded, worldwide, as a modern theatre that is very open toward a number of different musical genres falling into four main categories: classic, jazz, world music and contemporary. The Austrian venue is one of the youngest theatre and the last to be commissioned by the Habsburg family; it was built in only two years and opened its doors in 1913. Francis Joseph I himself inaugurated the opening throwing a solemn ceremony Richard Strauss composed its Festliches Präludium Op. 61 for.

Between 1998 and 2001 the theatre underwent a massive restoration, turning into one of the most technically advanced and modern venues all over the world. As part of the refurbishment, one hall, the Berio-Hall was added to the previous 4 already existing, the Mozartsaal, the Schubertsaal and the main one, the Grosser Saal, with a total capacity amounting to 1840 seats.

Usual guest here at the Konzerthaus, the Wiener Philharmoniker and the Wiener Symphoniker give  each year various concerts...
