Details on the Performance

A summit of Beethoven’s symphonic legacy, the Ninth gains a fascinating new perspective through Franz Liszt’s transcription of this universally celebrated score. With Pavel Kolesnikov, Samson Tsoy and the GewandhausChor conducted by Gregor Meyer, the work’s monumental architecture and profound ideal of human fellowship emerge in a strikingly different light.

The irresistible Ode to Joy theme remains its universal emblem.
