The Teatro San Carlo in Naples is one of the most prestigious in Italy, if not the most magnificent.
The new 2022-2023 season is the most closely watched by music lovers around the world since Stéphane Lissner took over as director.
The reputation of one of the most beautiful opera houses in Italy has always been excellent. Even though the historic theatre is closing from January to March 2023 for renovation, the productions continue and they are no less sensational. The Teatro Politeama even hosts an excellent summary of the 22-23 season with concert versions of Verdi's Rigoletto and Macbeth and Berlioz's The Damnation of Faust.
The world's greatest singers share the bill. With Ludovic Tézier, Nadine Sierra and Pene Pati, is there any better Rigoletto today? Anita Rachvelishvili, Charles Castronovo and Ildar Abdrazakov in La Damnation, Luca Salsi and Sondra Radvanovsky in Macbeth are a luxury and an ideal cast that few theatres offer. As with the dance and concerts, the entire season is full of breathtaking surprises. The artists in Verdi's Don Carlo, which opens the 2022-2023 season, are just as incredible as the big names on the stage of Naples' Teatro di San Carlo.

With its museums, its history, Vesuvius and Pompeii not far away, Naples is an obvious tourist destination that is very important for music lovers. The operatic life here has always been intense and there are countless opera premieres that have taken place here in the magnificent Teatro San Carlo in Naples. The world premiere of Winter Journey, an opera by the famous composer Ludovico Einaudi, is part of this tradition. The 2022-2023 season is harmoniously divided between concerts, ballets, recitals and, of course, operas. Tickets should be booked as soon as possible to ensure that you can attend a performance in the best possible conditions in this magnificent Italian theatre. Other highlights include Donizetti's Anna Bolena, where Maria Agresta and Elina Garanca will face off against the superb tenor Xabier Anduaga. The Italian opera repertoire is of course perfectly represented in Naples with La Bohème or Puccini's Madama Butterfly with once again a number of top-notch performers (Diana Damrau, Vittorio Grigòlo, Ailyn Pérez, Saimir Pirgu), but the San Carlo does not forget the rarer and no less interesting works such as Bellini's Beatrice di Tenda with Jessica Pratt and Matthew Polenzani or Rossini's Maometto II directed by Calixto Bieito.
The Teatro San Carlo in Naples is also about dance, and here again there are many proposals, including masterpieces such as Swan Lake and The Rite of Spring, with choreographies by the great masters Nijinsky, Fokine, August Bournonville, George Balanchine, Serge Lifar and Roland Petit.
