The charming city of Parma is world-renowned for its two culinary specialities, ham and Parmesan cheese. Its cultural reputation is also undeniable, especially in the field of opera. The greatest Italian opera composer, Giuseppe Verdi, grew up in Busseto, a town located a few kilometres away. Each season, the prestigious Verdi Festival in Parma offers a varied and exciting programme centred around the local hero.
To mark this famous festival, M&O has selected the best of the 2026 edition with three great masterpieces. Conducted by Daniele Rustioni, the chef everyone is talking about, the Messa da Requiem is beautifully performed by a quartet of leading soloists. Legendary director Pier Luigi Pizzi presents his Nabucco with a stellar cast, led by baritone Ariunbaatar Ganbaatar and soprano Lidia Fridman. The highlight of the 2026 edition is the performance of Aida in the intimate setting of the Teatro Verdi in Busseto (300 seats) for the privileged few who will attend the show in the classic staging by the great Franco Zeffirelli.
Other highlights await music-loving travellers, including a private tour of Parma and a trip to discover Busseto, Verdi's birthplace.
