Guided Tours
To make your stay as enjoyable as possible, we suggest a number of different themes for visits to the city of Seville :
- Seville and music
- Seville's Alcazar and Santa Cruz district
- The Cathedral and Church of San Sauveur
Arenal and Triana districts
Seville and music
You'll start in front of the Bullring, where a sculpture of Carmen will serve as a starting point. You'll then head for the Tobacco Factory, where the cigar makers worked. You'll then enter the Santa Cruz district, visiting the small square dedicated to Don Giovanni-Don Juan. You'll then pass by the so-called balcony of Rosina, the female protagonist of The Barber of Seville.
In the Callejon del Agua is located what might have been Carmen's Lilas Pastias tavern. You'll leave the Santa Cruz district via the Jewish Quarter alley, where you'll have a spectacular view of the cathedral and the famous Giralda.
Seville's Alcazar and Santa Cruz district
The Alcazar, Seville's royal palace, is home to treasures, magnificent gardens, stories and ghosts. With over 1000 years of history, it has been the residence of kings. Part of the opera La Favorite is set within its walls, with Leonor de Guzmán and King Alfonso of Castile as the protagonists.
Round off your visit with a stroll through the Santa Cruz district, Seville's former Jewish quarter.
The Cathedral and Church of Saint Sauveur
The cathedral is one of the monuments not to be missed if you visit Seville. It is the largest in Spain, one of the largest in the world, and home to treasures and curiosities such as the tomb of Christopher Columbus. It's optional to climb the Giralda, the former minaret of the main mosque, for the best views of Seville. Round off your visit with the nearby Church of El Salvador, a hidden gem with a close connection to Seville's famous Holy Week.
Arenal and Triana districts
Explore Seville's old seafaring quarters. On one side of the river lies the Arenal district, which still preserves vestiges such as medieval shipyards. The Bullring was built nearby in the 18th century. A statue of Carmen, the opera's protagonist, greets us directly opposite. Today, the Arenal is the most musical district, with the Maestranza, opera house since 1992.
Crossing the Guadalquivir River, the soul of Seville, you'll come to Triana, the seafaring, flamenco, ceramics and toreador quarter, with Seville's liveliest local life. You'll visit the ceramics workshops and the chapel of the Virgin of the Seafarers, as well as the market (in the market, which was the former castle of St. George, seat of the Inquisition, part of Beethoven's opera Fidelio takes place).
