Aix-en-Provence rightly claims to be the capital of Provence. This superb city, with its unique architectural and historical heritage, is world-famous for its thriving cultural life. The Grand Théâtre de Provence is home to the prestigious Easter Festival, now one of the leading lights on the international classical music scene.
Three Princes! Lucas Debargue, Renaud and Gautier Capuçon are artists at the top of their game, adored by audiences and critics alike. During this tour, the cello, piano and violin will take centre stage. Gautier Capuçon opens the ball with Shostakovich's virtuoso Cello Concerto No. 1. The following day, Lucas Debargue will get the Grand Théâtre de Provence swinging with Gershwin's Piano Concerto, before the prestigious Festival closes the following day with Renaud Capuçon. Both conductor and violinist, the artistic director has chosen a superb closing programme with Mozart's famous Violin Concerto No. 3. Symphonies by Mendelssohn and Schubert and Mussorgsky's Pictures at an Exhibition are also on the programme, performed by some of the world's finest orchestras, as part of the Easter Festival!
Another highlight is a private guide who will take you on a tour of the magnificent city of Aix, with a choice of the following themes: ‘Les rues se racontent’, ‘Places et Fontaines’, ‘Les joyaux d'Aix’, ‘Aix-en-Résistance’, ‘Aix-en-Archéologie’ and ‘Aix et Cézanne’.
