Two operas at the Mariinsky
The great Russian lyrical tradition has once again found its prestige since the great conductor Valery Gergiev has taken the helm of the artistic direction. This stay offers a double chance: the opportunity to make a link between the historical and modern venues and appreciate the excellence of the theatre's troupe with two masterpieces, Tchaikovsky's Queen of Spades and Verdi's Aida.
At the Staatsoper and the Elbphilharmonie
This stay is perfect for music lovers as the participants will discover the Staatsoper, an unmissable opera house thanks to its fantastic programme and the quality of its productions. Kent Nagano conducts Puccini's masterpiece Madama Butterfly with two great artists: Serena Farnocchia and Vincenzo Costanzo. The first day, a beautiful concert in the modern and already renowned Elbphilharmonie.
Two prestigious venues and J. Kaufmann with A. Harteros
This exceptional trip has many attractive features, including tickets to two of the most popular opera houses in the lyrical word! Naturally, the cultural richness of both Vienna and Munich is another major feature. Vienna offers an eccentric Don Pasquale with THE most honourable performer of Donizetti's opéras bouffe: the great Alessandro Corbelli. As for the Staatsoper, presenting the programme is not needed… this stay should be booked quickly. Jonas Kaufmann and Anja Harteros are considered today's best singers.
Three nights during the Donizetti Festival with Juan Diego Flórez !
The second edition of the Donizetti Opera Festival gives us two weeks dedicated to the great Bergamasco composer Gaetano Donizetti. This year will be a valuable series of events dedicated to the discovery of the great nineteenth-century composer: in addition to the rarity of the young Donizetti, work by his maestro Simon Mayr will also be performed, the Requiem Mass in the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, the star tenor recital of belcanto, Juan Diego Flòrez...
With great orchestras (Berliner Philharmoniker,...)
The season's greatest event is the reopening of the mythical Staatsoper Unter den Linden. Under full renovation work since 2010, the venue will welcome the spectators on this special evening of the venue's 275 th anniversary. Two performances are on the programme to enjoy the new acoustics. Humperdinck's German opera masterpiece, Hänsel und Gretel, is a gem in which Elsa Dreisig's Gretel will be well worth the applause. L'incoronazione di Poppea is a great saga in which several artists including Max Emmanuel Cencic and Anna Prohaska will face one another...
At the Teatro alla Scala with A. Netrebko and R. Bolle
The grand opening is the most awaited performance. By choosing Giordano's Andrea Chénier this season, the artistic director Riccardo Chailly takes up the Italian opera tradition. Is it even necessary to present Anna Netrebko? The fantastic soprano has reached her vocal apex. The other performance is also well worth the trip as John Neumaier's superb ballet with Chopin's music allows the two greatest ballet stars, Svetlana Zakharova and Roberto Bolle to meet on stage.
Three nights during Mozart's week
A great programme allows us to hear every form of the divine Mozart's works. Baroque opera will be performed with Der Entführung aus dem Serail, conducted by another genius, René Jacobs. Some symphonic music is on the list, with the greatest orchestra in the world: the Wiener Philharmoniker, conducted by Valery Gergiev in the famous concerto for clarinet. Finally, enjoy some opera and concert arias performed by the rising Regula Mühlemann and Siobhan Stagg, but also the great Rolando Villazón. Mozart, nothing but Mozart, but the very best of it!
Two operas at the Gran Teatre del Liceu: J. Kaufmann, W. Christie...
This exceptional weekend revives the legendary past of the Gran Teatre del Liceu by offering two remarkable performance: Ariodante, Haendel's masterpiece conducted by William Christie and his Arts Florissants with Kate Lindsey and Chen Reiss. Jonas Kaufmann in the title role of Andrea Chenier is just unmissable. The great tenor always raises an indescribable enthusiasm thanks to his immense talent. The superbe Sondra Rodvanovsky and Carlos Alvarez who surround him are at the same exceptional level.
